The history of Longbridge is dominated by its industrial past, during which time it was once the largest manufacturing plant in the world. It is most notable for the production of cars with perhaps the most celebrated being the iconic Austin Mini.

Early on in the briefing process for MyPlace, a number of similarities between manufacturing plants and the client’s aspirations for the building were identified and it was agreed to develop a concept based around the notion of a ‘factory’.

The materials used to create the ‘Factory’ are hard wearing, unfussy and have an industrial aesthetic.
