Marks Barfield were commissioned to provide concept design services to support the step-free capacity enhancement proposals developed by Transport for London, producing a design that included facade and roof design, structural analysis, environmental engineering and costing of a new landmark envelope to the station, an exercise completed in just 10 weeks. This assisted TfL in determining the functionality and viability of the proposed improvements and the impact on the local environment.

Marks Barfield also examined the immediate station public realm, linking this with the emerging urban realm strategy of the High Gyratory Study, the local Borough’s Planning Framework and the aspirations of the TfL 100 Squares for London program.
