Marks Barfield Architects joined forces with Bennetts Associates to design and execute the redevelopment and new extension of the Departures Lounge of the Gatwick North Terminal keeping it fully operational during the course of the building works. The project included a 5,000 sqm extension and 15,000 sqm redevelopment of the Airside Departures Lounge for Gatwick Airport Ltd.

The scheme introduced natural light, increased the retail and catering accommodation and improved the International Transfer Facilities. The work involved liaison with the Client and the Design and Construction Manager, MACE Ltd, and managing the contract on site.  It incorporated the preparation of a detailed brief, planning, detail design, specification, tender and contract information, and execution.
