This competition winning design was recently granted planning permission. Ryde Interchange is the main transport hub on the Isle of Wight, used by 3 Million passengers annually as they move between 12 different modes of transport.
Delivering an iconic gateway to Ryde, the interchange will improve overall access for all users. It will create stronger physical and visual linkages between the Pier, Esplanade and town centre helping to realise the tourist and recreational potential of the surrounding seafront while at the same time making major improvements to the management of traffic.
The architectural ‘form’ takes its inspiration from the land and sea scape, and is inspired by the elements and forms in nature.
