Gentle Landmarks - Marks Barfield recent projects

1 June 2010

Foreword by Stephen Bayley

Celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the formation of London based Marks Barfield Architects, this beautiful book offers an overview of the last ten years work since the completion of the London Eye, the practices best known creation.  As design guru Stephen Bayley notes in his foreword: every successive MBA project is a surprise.  The same dedication is applied to every project they are involved with, from the engineering and technology of the London Eye to the lyricism of the new Treetop Walkway for the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, the community-driven art gallery for a provincial town, or the Michael Tippett School for children with special educational needs.  The guiding spirit behind every project is a complete understanding of their clients needs and the context of the site.  Each client, each site, each brief is unique.  It would therefore be surprising if each project was not distinct.
